SUDBURY -- Sudbury police and members of the OPP arrested two men on Thursday in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.
The two men, both in their 20s, were taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m. March 19 in a parking lot on Sandra Street in the community of Garson.
Police say they found a 22-calibre revolver handgun, approximately $4,800 in fentanyl, cocaine and LSD as well as $4,000 in cash during a search.
As a result, a 27-year-old Greater Sudbury man was charged with the following;
- Resisting/obstructing a peace officer
- Assault peace officer with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Use firearm in the commission of an offence
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of firearm/weapon contrary to a prohibition order x 6
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule I substance (cocaine)
- Fail to comply with recognizance of bail x 2
- Breach of probation order
And a 23-year-old man, also from Greater Sudbury, was charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule I substance (cocaine)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (currency)
- Possession of a controlled schedule I substance (fentanyl)
Police say the several investigations were launched last fall with the intent to disrupt drug trafficking operations entering and operating within the City of Greater Sudbury.
The 23-year-old was released, the 27-year-old was held for bail court on Friday.
