Trio charged after northern Ont. police seize $27K in drugs

Ontario Provincial Police have charged three people with drug offences after a traffic stop on Highway 11 this week.

On Dec. 20 shortly after 8 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle travelling on Highway 11 in Chamberlain Township.

“Police seized an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $27,400 and an amount of Canadian currency,” the OPP said in a news release Thursday.

All three people arrested are from Kirkland Lake. Two of them, ages 25 and 33, are charged with drug trafficking. The third suspect is charged with trafficking, driving without a permit and without proof of insurance.

All three accused are being held pending a bail hearing in Kirkland Lake.
