Sudbury -

Timmins police say a man was charged with criminal harassment Sunday night after being accused of following someone he was ordered to stay away from.

It happened in South Porcupine on Sunday evening, police said in a news release, when someone called the police about the accused allegedly following them in a vehicle.

"The suspect is subject to strict court-imposed conditions including not to contact, annoy or molest the specific person that he was following (Sunday) evening," police said.

As a result of an investigation into what police are calling "intimidating activity," the 71-year-old accused was arrested and charged with harassment and not following his probation order.

Police said he was held in custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Monday.

None of the allegations has been proven or tested in court.
