Gunshots heard Saturday morning at a Chelmsford townhouse led to three arrests and the discovery of suspected cocaine, Sudbury police say.

Officers were called to the home on David Street just after 8 a.m. Dec. 14 after a neighbour reported hearing gunshots inside a nearby unit.

Two people exited the home and spoke to officers saying a third person was inside.

"Due to concerns for the individual’s safety, officers entered the unit," police said in a news release Monday morning.

The third suspect was escorted out of the unit.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

"While in the unit, officers located what is believed to be cocaine and other drug paraphernalia, as well as, an empty shell casing and a rifle," police said.

Three suspects, all 33 years old, are charged with drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a gun.

The two males and one female were held in custody overnight and attended weekend court on Sunday.
