Fire Chief John Thomas announced Monday that the investigation concluded the cause of the fire was accidental.
"Through an investigation, it was determined that the ignition source was a result of hot works being conducted in an apartment unit," Thomas said in a news release.
'Hot works' include welding, soldering or cutting with ignition sources near flammable materials. In this case, fire officials said it was soldering.
The structure was still smoldering 24 hours after flames first broke out, with several firefighters still on scene putting out hotspots at what was left of the three-story building.
While no humans were injured, one pet died in the fire.
