Temiskaming OPP charge three people with attempted murder in Sept. 23 shooting

Three people have been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the northern Ontario community of Charlton on Sept. 23.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.

Police responded to reports of a shooting on Agnes Street in the community around 4:55 a.m. and arrested the trio.

"Police believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety," the release said.

"Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues."

The investigation is being conducted by the Temiskaming OPP crime unit, under the direction of the OPP criminal investigations branch.
