SUDBURY -- Greater Sudbury Police are asking the public's help in locating the person who stole a motor bike from a Kingsway Boulevard business early Wednesday morning.
Whoever took the bike has been seen speeding around town all day, including one incident on Notre Dame Avenue when the bike was involved in a collision. The suspect has been described as being white with a thin build and facial hair.
The theft took place around 4:20 a.m. when a red 2017 Honda CRF motor was stolen. At the time it was taken from the business, the bike had a licence plate of 2J7M4.
"Just before 10:30 a.m. information was received that a bike matching that description was seen in the area of Murray Street," police said in a news release. "Officers began patrolling the area and saw the bike being driven on King Street where it entered a wooded area."
The driver and the bike were then seen on Mountain Street where it headed towards the Adanac Ski Hill. At that point, officers lost sight of it.
Collided with a parked car
At 10:50 a.m., police received a call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving what was believed to be the same bike behind an establishment on Notre Dame Avenue.
"The information provided was that two individuals were on the bike when it collided with a parked car," police said. "Both individuals on the bike got up and left the area with the bike prior to police arrival."
A short time later police received a report that a bike matching the description was being operated at a high speed on MR35 toward Chelmsford.
"Due to the reckless driving behaviour exhibited by the individual operating the motor bike and the anticipation that further criminal acts will be committed using the bike or by the driver of the bike, we are requesting the public’s assistance to locate the stolen vehicle, as well as, identify the driver," police said.
