Sault suspect tied snowblower to truck bumper, arrested for impaired, weapons offences
A suspended driver in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with more than a dozen offences after someone reported a pickup truck driving around with a snowblower tied to the bumper.
Police haven't said whether the snowblower was attached to the front or rear of the truck, or whether the snowblower was operating at the time.
But a search of the vehicle uncovered empty alcohol containers and a loaded handgun. And the suspect had a suspended licence and had failed to attend court on another matter.
The incident took place Dec. 6 around 11:30 when 911 communicators received a call about "someone driving a pickup truck up and down Chambers Avenue with a snowblower tied to the bumper."
Police located the truck on Dacey Road and quickly realized the driver was suspended and had a warrant out for their arrest.
"While speaking with the accused, officers noticed several empty alcohol containers in the passenger seat of the vehicle," the news release said.

"In addition to the open alcohol containers, officers located a pellet gun, as well as a loaded handgun which had its serial number tampered with, and ammunition."
The 44-year-old is charged with numerous weapons offences, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, failing to attend court, driving while suspended, not having a clear view of the front of their vehicle, driving with liquor readily available to the driver, among other offences.
The accused was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court.
