SUDBURY -- The Greater Sudbury Soccer League has decided to suspend operations after a member of the league tested positive for COVID-19.
Outdoor programming that was scheduled for Oct. 24-25 was cancelled. It was the final week the league had outdoor activities planned.
"The board will be evaluating the entire situation on an ongoing basis while we continue to work with (Public Health Sudbury & Districts) personnel," president Joe Snofl said in a letter Oct. 23 to parents and players.
"This shut down is (a) precautionary measure to ensure there is no risk of spread throughout the club due to soccer programming. We will try to get programming started again after further review and consideration. We will update you as soon as possible."
Indoor sports were to take place at the Rainbow School Board's indoor sports bubble at Lasalle Secondary School. However, because of the pandemic, the bubble is not currently available to local sports groups.
