Mayoral candidates in Greater Sudbury sat down for another debate Monday evening.
It was put on by the Sudbury Arts Council.
Officials say the arts directly improve quality of life through music, theatre and dance and it also boosts tourism and is an economic driver for the city.
“One of the things that people don’t realize is that this is an industry and it is a growing industry. It is also an industry that attracts people, as well as encourages people to come here for other high paying positions. So, the return on your money for investing in the arts is actually a very powerful argument.” said Linda Cartier, President of Sudbury Arts Council.
The Sudbury Arts Council says the city currently provides less financial support to the arts community than other cities, based on population.
