Update: 

The Ontario Provincial Police have released further details into a Sturgeon Falls homicide investigation.

West Nipissing Police Service and the North East Region OPP continue the investigation into Sunday’s deadly shooting incident.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Jaime Boyd from Sturgeon Falls.

A 46-year-old man also died in this incident, but police will not be releasing his name due to the ongoing investigation.

The 59-year-old female who was injured during the incident remains in hospital in stable condition.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating a shooting incident in Sturgeon Falls Sunday night that resulted in two fatalities.

Police in say three people were shot and two are dead.

Around 8 pm officers responded to a gun call at a home on Leblanc Road in the community 40 kilometres west of North Bay, and had what's being called an interaction with a 46-year old man.

The man fled into a nearby wooded area, which prompted police to close part of Highway 17 while they searched for him.

People were told to lock their doors, and then, around 2 am, officers found the man dead of a gunshot wound in the nearby woods.  

The SIU gets involved whenever there's a death, injury, or sexual assault in the presence of police.

It is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.

Ontario Provinical Police say a 59-year-old woman remains in hospital, where she is being treated for critical injuries.

Marc Leblanc and Cindy Posvad live in the area wher the shots were fired.
"It's scary. We're still a little, we're vibrating you know, it's pretty devastating." said Posvad.
"Yeah you know it's just, again surreal, can't believe it's happened here. You know we went by the scene we saw the car and all that it's like omg this happens here." said Leblanc.
