NORTH BAY -- The COVID-19 pandemic is not stopping third year graphic design students at Canadore College from showing off their work off.
For the first time, an annual design showcase hosted by the program is moving completely online.
"I'm so proud of all of our students, not just the graduates, but the first and second year students too," said Shirley Mondoux, Graphic Design Program Coordinator. "Especially with what they've had to adapt to."
Every school year, the program holds a design showcase which would be on display at the campus, highlighting the graduating students' finest work.
But because of the pandemic, the exhibit moved to a digital space.
Student Noah McQuestion says he's still really proud to have the ability to showcase his work.
"I've always been an artist," said McQuestion. "I've always done traditional art like painting and drawing. Getting into this course, I did a lot more digital art.
As part of the showcase, the graduating students compile a creative portfolio of their artwork and the skills they picked up through their college years.
Student Whisper Gillespie says it will help her in the job hunt down the line.
"In photography, I like to keep everything bright and with lots of colours, but for illustrations, I don't keep a specific theme," said Gillespie.
Since graphic design is always evolving and picks up on the latest trends, the professors say the pandemic has taught the students to adapt when creating their masterpieces.
"Everybody has their own unique spin on how they interpret their artwork," said Carol Bridle, Graphic Design Program professor Carol Bridle. "They're a really talented bunch."
The full showcase can be viewed at on the Canadore College Graphic Design website.
