SUDBURY -- On Friday, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit declared a COVID outbreak at Water’s Edge in North Bay after a staff member tested positive.
"The individual is currently in isolation," the health unit said in a news release.
No residents at Water’s Edge have tested positive, the release added.
“Our staff are working with Water’s Edge to provide important public health direction,” Dr. Jim Chirico, medical officer of health, is quoted as saying in the release. “We know that older individuals are vulnerable, and it is important that we do our best to keep this population safe.”
This is the second time today the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has announced an outbreak at a long-term care home in their district.
Earlier Friday, the health unit announced two staff at a care home in Parry Sound had tested positive.
Most people with COVID-19 have no symptoms or mild symptoms, the health unit said. People who are mildly ill should isolate and care for themselves at home. Most will recover in one to two weeks by simply treating the symptoms.
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate themselves and call a testing centre to book an appointment.
