A 25-year-old from Otterville, Ont., has been charged with mischief-related offences following incidents that began early Sunday morning at a tavern in Thessalon.

Ontario Provincial Police responded at 1:50 a.m. to a disturbance at the tavern.

"Investigation determined an individual had been kicked out of the tavern and was banging on the door," the OPP said in a news release Monday.

"While police were making their way to the establishment, the person had broken the glass on the door and was attempting to re-enter the premises and left."

The suspect was arrested at 2:10 a.m. on Main Street and taken to the Thessalon OPP detachment to sober up.

"While lodged, the accused urinated on the cell floor and wiped nose mucus on the walls," police said.

Charges include two counts of mischief (destroying or damaging property) and one count of public intoxication.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Dec. 5.
