SUDBURY -- Provincial police say they are still searching for a second suspect that fled from police north of Parry Sound on Monday.
Police have released more details into an incident that happened June 1 around 5 p.m. that turned into a manhunt.
Officers from the West Parry Sound OPP detachment responded to a report about a vehicle headed north after failing to stop for police. They used a spike belt to stop the vehicle in the median between Highways 400 and 559.
When the two people inside of the vehicle got out, one 24-year-old man from Brampton was immediately arrested while the second man reportedly fled into a nearby wooded area. While the search continues for the suspect still at large, police are no longer continuing to look in the immediate area.
Officials say $160,000 in suspected cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and cannabis along with a handgun were reportedly seized from the suspect's vehicle.
The man in custody faces a list of drug trafficking, weapons and driving charges and is scheduled to appear in court on June 4 in Parry Sound.
Police describe the man wanted in connection with this incident as:
- Black
- 18 to 20-years-old
- Wearing a thin, white t-shirt and black Adidas pants
