Sault suspect charged with threatening police in online rants

A 46-year-old has been charged after the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received reports someone was threatening their officers and court staff online.
Police were alerted to the threats June 6.
“Detectives received a report of someone writing threatening posts on a social media platform directed toward Sault Police officers and staff at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse,” police said in a news release Wednesday.
“Further investigation revealed the identity of the suspect as the accused. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.”
The suspect turned themselves in June 11 and is charged with two counts of uttering threats.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
