Sault Ste. Marie resident celebrates $1M Encore win
Don MacMillan of Sault Ste. Marie matched all seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the Dec. 19 Lotto Max draw to win $1 million.
MacMillan said he’s been a regular lottery player for more than 10 years and plays the numbers from the last Super 7 ticket his dad purchased years ago.
“I was at home one morning having coffee with my mom when I checked my ticket on the OLG app,” MacMillan said in a news release Wednesday from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.
“I saw the zeroes and at first glance, I thought I won $100,000, then I noticed the additional zero. I was shaking and vibrating from the shock and disbelief.”
He shared the news with his mom, dad and sister and they were all so happy.
“I’ll never forget that day – it was so heartwarming.”
MacMillan plans to invest and treat his family with his windfall.
“This win is all about my family. I’m blessed to have them and blessed to have this win,” he said.
“It’s been a very surreal experience that has been completely unbelievable and so cool. All the possibilities that come with a win like this are so exciting.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Urban Square IDA on Trunk Road in Sault Ste. Marie.
