One child taken to hospital after Sudbury school bus rear ended

One child has been taken to hospital after a school bus was rear-ended on Municipal Road 35 east of Azilda in Greater Sudbury on Wednesday morning.

Sudbury firefighters have been on scene since 8:15 a.m., deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in a phone interview.

Police were called to the collision on Elm Street near Fire Route O around 8:45 a.m., police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTV News in an email.

Oshell said the child was taken to hospital to be checked out at the request of some of the parents.

Dunn said it was done as a precautionary measure.

No word on what cause the crash as the investigation is ongoing.
