The head of the Public Utilities Commission in Sault Ste. Marie is stepping down from the organization.

Dominic Parrella, president and CEO of the PUC, will retire after his replacement is chosen.

In a media release, the PUC said the group’s board of directors has asked Parrella to remain in his current position until a replacement is chosen.

The PUC said the search for a new president and CEO will start immediately and it should be completed by the end of the summer.

“I have had the good fortune to work with tremendous people in my career with PUC,” said Parella.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to our dedicated and skilled employees for their efforts and support over the years. I appreciate the opportunity the board has given me to lead this dynamic company, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of the Sault Ste. Marie community.”

Parella has been a PUC employee for 30 years. He began his career as an engineer and he was named to his current position back in 2013.

“I want to publicly thank Dominic for his service and dedication to PUC, our customers, our employees, and the community,” said Jim Boniferro, PUC board chair.

“Dominic has played a critical role in the development of this organization, and while he will be missed, we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
