Prince Harry and his new bride Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made their first appearance as a royal couple this week at Prince Charles' 70th birthday party.
There was also some Northern Ontario representation.
20 people from the Second Irish Regiment in Sudbury were there and now they're back and talking about the experience.
The jet lag has started to wear off, but it doesn't look like the memories ever will.
Dr. Kevin McCormick is the Irish Regiment of Canada Honorary Colonel.
"It’s something you may never have the opportunity to do again and something you'll remember for the rest of your life." said Dr. McCormick.
Members of the Second Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada were invited to attend a garden party along with 6,000 other guests as part of an early 70th birthday celebration for Prince Charles.
He is the group's "Colonel-in-Chief."
Dr. McCormick from Sudbury's Huntington University got a chance to be part of the official photo.
Although he didn't get a chance to shake any royal hands, some people in the Sudbury group did.
"They spent approximately five minutes on the fields speaking with them which was absolutely amazing. The prince is the patron of a number of organizations and colonel and chief for a number of military units both within britain and within the commonwealth so it's very important for him to take time to recognize and i think it was very well received by the soldiers." said Dr. McCormick.
So what are the royals like in real life?
John Valtonen is the Brigade Commander of the Irish Regiment of Canada.
"What I found was they’re very grounded. Meaning that they're very gracious and they understand. They were born into that position, they didn't chose to be in that position, and so they're doing everything they can with their position to make sure that it positively affects the world. That's what I took away from it."
The group members didn't get an invitation to the royal wedding on May 19th, but say they did attend a viewing party in a nearby town.
