SUDBURY – More than 100 people braved the elements in Chelmsford on Saturday to remember Canada's fallen.
Royal Canadian Legion 553 held its annual parade and it's Remembrance Day services at the Chelmsford Cenotaph.
MPP Marc Serre, MPP France Gelinas and Sudbury Councillor Gerry Montpellier were among the dignitaries in attendance.
The theme this year was the 75th anniversary of the Italian Campaign, as well as the anniversary of D-Day.
"It's mostly for the veterans… that's why we do it every year, because the veterans… some of them laid their life for our country and that's probably why we do it this year… every year," says Gerald Lapierre, Branch President 553.
"I'm not surprised… I mean we have our veteran, a few left from the Second World War, the Korean War but we have many people from Chelmsford and this year that served in the Afghanistan War, those people are our age, they are around here, some of them are gone unfortunately but their wives, their children, their brothers and sisters, they are still here in Chelmsford and around so they always draw a huge crowd," explained Gelinas.
Remembrance Day services continue around the north on both Sunday and Monday morning.
