SUDBURY -- Power has been restored to nearly 500 customers after an early morning outage near Sudbury airport Monday.

Tiziana Baccega Rosa, a senior media relations advisor for Hydro One, says it happened around 6:16 a.m. when equipment at the top of a hydro pole failed, causing a fire.

Power has been restored as of 9:30 a.m., after crews replaced two switches.

Dawn Larsen, marketing and communications manager for Greater Sudbury Airport, tells CTV News that the airport operated on emergency backup power for a short time with no impact to operations.

Baccega Rosa says an equipment reset may be necessary to fully restore hydro service at the airport.
