Police ‘throw all resources’ to find who shot up a Timmins residence

The Timmins Police Service’s forensics team has collected evidence from a shooting incident at a multi-unit dwelling at the corner of Wende Avenue and Rae Street South.

Police were called to the scene on Monday at around 11:09 p.m. but the suspect had already left.

“What I can say is that the police are actively investigating this,” said acting Det. Sgt. Kathryn Beatty.

“We're throwing all of our resources at it so that we can hopefully come to a quick resolution and hold the people accountable.”

Police told CTV News they are working to determine who is responsible for the crime and what type of gun was used.

They said no one was injured as a result of the gunfire, but the building, which houses tenants on multiple levels, was sprayed with more than a dozen bullets.

“Yeah, it's a very scary incident, even from a police perspective, that number of shots towards a residence,” Beatty said.

“That's not something that Timmins is used to or wants to get used to.”

She said people have come forward with surveillance video and investigators would welcome others to share video or information they may have that could help solve the case.
