SUDBURY -- A 26-year-old from North Bay was rescued Monday evening after sustaining an injury while hiking with two friends in Killarney Provincial Park.
The Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received the report at noon.
"Investigation revealed a group of three people had hiked approximately 40 kilometres on the Silhouette Trail in the last three days when one of the individuals suffered an ankle injury," police said in a news release. "With a weak cell signal, they managed to place a call to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre who then contacted OPP."
With help from OPP Aviation Services and Park Rangers from Ontario Parks, the trio was located and rescued at 5:55 p.m.
The 26-year-old was treated by paramedics with Killarney emergency medical services.
