Pedestrian struck in North Bay, OPP investigating

A vehicle struck a pedestrian Saturday morning in North Bay and one person has been taken to hospital, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) said.

The collision occurred before 10:30 a.m. on High Street at O'Brien Street, according to a tweet by NBPS.

Police have cleared the intersection shortly after 3 p.m., according to an update posted on ‘X’ previously Twitter.

“Please avoid the area until further notice,” police said initially.

In their first update at about 11:30 a.m., the police service thanked the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for attending to process the scene and advised delays in the area would continue.

“One person has been taken to hospital,” read the tweet.

In a phone interview with CTV News just after noon, NBPS Sgt. Paul Brewer confirmed a motor vehicle struck a pedestrian Saturday morning with the pedestrian taken to hospital by first responders. He said the police service requested OPP specialists to process the scene.

At the time of this publication, there is no update on the condition of the injured pedestrian.

Police have not released any details about the vehicle, its driver or the pedestrian at this time.

NBPS said the investigation is ongoing.
