Update:

Timmins police say a man in his 70s sustained life-threatening injuries while walking across one of the city's busiest intersections Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened around 8:15 am July 17 when the pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck.

The female driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is being interviewed by police, while the victim receives treatment at the hospital.

Police say the intersection will remain closed to allow officers to investigate.

"Timmins Police Service would be thankful to anybody who could come forward and provide independent recollections of what occurred either immediately up to the collision or during the collision itself," said Marc Depatie, of TPS.

The victim remains in intensive care and the family has been notified.

There is no word on any charges as yet.

Police say they will provide updates as they become available.
