The City of Timmins and the Porcupine Health Unit have issued a “precautionary” boil water advisory for Pine Street between Second and Third Avenue, effective Monday.

Consumers in those areas should expect a loss of water pressure while crews work on the system.

“The environmental services department is conducting emergency water main repairs,” the city said in a news release.

Before using water, affected consumers should bring water to a “rolling boil for at least one minute” before using it for such purposes as drinking, making infant formula and juices, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.

Be sure to boil the water before using it to wash dishes.

The advisory will remain in effect for at least 48 hours.

“City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this necessary process,” the city said.

Anyone with questions can contact Service Timmins at 705-264-1331 during business hours. After-hours emergencies should be directed to 705-264-1201.
