Ontario Provincial Police say a violent incident in the town of New Liskeard resulted in one man dying after an altercation on Tuesday.
Police responded to a call on McCamus Avenue just after 3 pm where one man died and a second man suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
There is no safety concern for people living in the area according to police.
Update:
The investigation is in its early stages, but OPP have determined a gun was involved.
"I can confirm that a firearm was involved in the incident and foul play is not suspected at this time." said OPP Constable Jennifer Smith.
While waiting outside with her son for her daughter's bus to arrive, Alanna Rivard describes the chaotic scene she witnessed.
She is a neighbour to the residence where the incident took place.
"There were two people waiting in a car and they ran out and they were yelling 'no, no, no,' telling the guy who had the shotgun, they were telling him to stop and stuff like that. And then, I heard the shotgun, so I ran and grabbed my son and I ran inside." said Rivard.
She says she knew the family, and says she never could she have anticipated this.
"I didn't really wrap my mind around it yet. I mean, he didn't live here, the guy that passed away, but he came to visit almost every day. He came to visit his dad almost every day and I would see him all the time.” said Rivard.
Police say the identities of the victims are being withheld and they are asking anyone with any information regarding the incident to come forward.
