SUDBURY -- The West Nipissing OPP's canine unit found human remains near Fox Lake Road in Venturi Township on Wednesday, police said in a news release.
The discovery of the still unidentified deceased person took place around noon in an area near Cartier, north of Sudbury.
A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nipissing West OPP crime unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner-Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, as well as the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit.
"There is no concern for public safety," police said Thursday afternoon.
