Ont. Provincial Police looking for suspects who stole ATM near Sault Ste. Marie

Surveillance video of three suspects stealing an ATM from a store in Echo Bay near Sault Ste. Marie is being shared with the public as police ask for help identifying the people responsible.

Suspects in a dark-coloured pick-up truck were recorded entering the vestibule of Dinelle's Country Market shortly after 3 a.m. Feb. 22, Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District said in a news release Monday.

"After lengthy attempts, were able to forcefully remove an ATM that was attached to a wall," the news release said.

The video, posted above, appears to show a strap attached to the hitch of the pickup pulling something inside the door of the store and what looks like an ATM machine comes flying out of the door, shattering the glass.

"The total sum of stolen cash is estimated to be $1,500 and property damage is estimated to be approximately $4,000," Crime Stoppers said.

"If you can identify the suspects and your tip leads to an arrest you may be eligible for a cash reward."
