The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is extending its contract with Pollard Banknote Limited, and the move will create 35 new jobs in Sault Ste. Marie.
Pollard Banknote Limited has an office in the Sault and it employs 65 people.
The company prints instant lottery tickets for the OLG, and the extension is expected to increase its total work force to 100 by January 2018.
“Pollard Banknote remains a strong partner of OLG, and we are committed to the City of Sault Ste. Marie and to generating funds for good causes in the province of Ontario,” said Douglas Pollard, Co-CEO of Pollard Banknote.
“We are very proud of our growth in Sault Ste. Marie. Our Sault operation has been an innovation leader in our company, developing new methods to drive our manufacturing efficiency. And we are thrilled that the leadership and hard work of our dedicated staff are being rewarded with this contract extension and the additional jobs being created in Sault Ste. Marie.”
Over the next five years, OLG said it expects to purchase more than one billion instant tickets from Pollard, who in turn will increase jobs at its Instant Ticket Finishing Plant in Sault Ste. Marie.
The five year extension will increase the current contract value by approximately $100 million.
“OLG is committed to maintaining strong partnerships with private sector companies like Pollard Banknote to help us deliver a great experience to customers and to generate increased revenue for the Province. This partnership adds to our skilled lottery operations, headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Stephen Rigby, OLG CEO.
“Our continued partnership with Pollard Banknote will allow OLG to maintain the excellent integrity levels in terms of ticket specifications and security that we have come to expect from Pollard and which are required to support the growing lottery business.”
