Northern Ont. suspect charged with pointing rifle at family members
An argument between family members last week in Serpent River First Nation turned ugly when an agitated person took out a rifle.
The incident took place Dec. 20. Ontario Provincial Police responded around 1 p.m., along with the canine unit and other emergency response teams to a residence on Village Road.
"The complainant and their common-law spouse arrived at the residence to speak with a family member," the OPP said in a news release Monday.
"When the family member became agitated, the couple decided to leave. As they were backing out of the driveway in their pickup truck, the family member emerged from the residence, armed with a long gun, and pointed it at the couple as they were leaving."
Police arrived later and took the suspect into custody. Two firearms, including a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, were also seized.

The rifle "matched the description provided by the complainants," the OPP said.
The 28-year-old suspect was charged with four offences, including pointing a firearm and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on Dec. 22 and was remanded into custody.
