NORTH BAY -- It's safe to say Victoria Desfosses was born to take part in the winter sport of biathlon.

Victoria wrapped up her time with the cadets in outstanding fashion, picking up four medals at the National Cadet Biathlon Championship at CFB Valcartier, Quebec.

"It was mind-boggling. I was not expecting the results that I came back with," said Desfosses. "I definitely didn't think I was at that level. I definitely thought I had a chance at one medal."

Victoria got into biathlon when she entered cadets at the age of 12.

With one eye on her skis and one on the course, she's training as hard as she can; motivated to be the best.

The 18-year-old former cadet picked up two silver medals in the team relay and the patrol race, as well as two bronze medals in the individual sprint and the mass start.

"The feeling and sound of it," said Desfosses, when asked about her love of the sport.

"It's like an adrenaline rush every time."

North Bay's 547 Air Cadet Squadron sent Victoria to the championships along with three other members.

Desfosses is no stranger to the big stage, picking up a silver in the 2018 relay and bronze in the 2019 relay at the last two championships.

Even though Desfosses' cadet career is done, she's now aiming to represent Team Canada in the Winter Olympics.

"That would be the biggest dream come true, the Olympics. My life would be accomplished," said Defosses.

Her mom, Sylvie Demers is thrilled to see her daughter do so well in a sport she loves.

"I really think she has a natural potential to pursue biathlon and what can I say? I'm going to support her 100 per cent," said Demers.

As for Victoria, she says she will train harder than ever, her eyes locked on that Olympic target.
