Police in North Bay are offering more details about a scary situation at a local elementary school, where a 13-year old was threatening people with a knife.
It happened at W.J. Fricker Elementary School on Wednesday.
The boy is accused of waving a knife in front of staff members.
No one was injured. As a precaution, a hold and secure was briefly put in place by school officials, but was lifted a short time later. Police were able to make the arrest outside the school where the student was said to be dangerously waving a flag pole.
“It was learned he had earlier had a stapler and (he was) using that in a threatening manner towards a staff member and actually firing staples in the direction of a staff member's head and (he) could have caused some injuries,” said Constable Merv Shantz, North Bay Police Service.
“Thankfully there were no injuries, so in totality of their situation, the 13-year-old male was charged with assault with a weapon in relation to the stapler and two counts of possession of weapons dangerous to the public in relation to the flag pole and the knife"
The student was released to his parents on a promise to appear in court this summer. No date has been provided.
