NORTH BAY -- A group made up of North Bay city leaders is meeting to discuss new developments and planning requirements related to the current COVID-19 situation.
The city's Emergency Operations Control Group met Friday morning.
The group, which includes Mayor Al McDonald, the Chief Administrative Officer, David Euler, Fire Chief, Jason Whiteley, city Police Chief Scott Tod, North Bay Regional Health Centre President and CEO, Paul Heinrich, and the local health unit's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Jim Chirico, is responsible for strategic decisions, coordination among many community partners leading up to or after the declaration of a municipal emergency.
The Emergency Operations Control Group has previously met during this pandemic and will continue to meet and continuously improve plans and actions to meet the ever changing needs.
"The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we will continue to work to ensure that measures are in place to maintain essential services during this pandemic,” said Mayor Al McDonald.
Among other items, Friday morning’s discussions included the supply and management of personal protective equipment for local health care workers and emergency personnel, as well as appropriate measures needed to protect essential workers.
In a media release provided to CTV News, the city says the group is actively monitoring the situation and will be continuing to regularly meet to respond to new developments and ensure that contingencies are in place.
