North Bay man on probation caught with crossbow, brass knuckles, knife

One person has been charged after police in North Bay received a report about someone with a crossbow outside a local business.

The incident took place Aug. 31 around 5 p.m.

"The North Bay Police Service responded to reports of an individual holding a crossbow outside of local businesses in the 300-block of Lakeshore Drive," police said in a news release Tuesday.

"When our officers arrived at the location, the accused was attempting to load the crossbow," police spokesperson David Woolley said in an email to CTV News.

"Whenever we receive a report of an individual with a weapon, our officers will respond to ensure public safety."

A search of the 26-year-old suspect uncovered a compound bow and ammunition for the bow (crosbbow bolts), a prohibited switchblade knife and a set of brass knuckles, also a prohibited weapon.

Charges include possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, three counts of possessing weapons while prohibited, one count of failing to comply with an undertaking one count of violating probation and three counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
