SUDBURY -- North Bay police arrested a man believed to be responsible for several thefts and an assault last week.
The 21-year-old accused allegedly stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle on Oct. 19 and threatened the victim and his co-worker with a knife when later approached before running away, police said in a news release Wednesday. He is also accused of using a credit card from the stolen wallet.
On Oct. 24, police said the accused was confronted by a homeowner when allegedly breaking into the shed at a Karla Drive home and ran away.
Police said the man was identified when he stole a bicycle from a Plumtree residence to get away and he was found later that day on Labreche Drive.
"Initially the accused provided police with a false name however police properly identified him during their investigation," said police.
He was released from custody after a bail hearing Oct. 25 and is scheduled back in court Dec. 8.
The accused has been charged with:
- One count of theft under $5,000
- One count of fraudulent use of credit card
- Two counts of assault with a weapon
- One count of possession weapon dangerous
- One count of break and enter with intent
- One count of possession of property obtained by crime
- One count of obstructing peace officer
- One count of breach of release order
- Two counts of breach of probation
