A provincial regulator has revoked the licence of a North Bay based car dealership.
In a media release issued on Tuesday, Ontario’s Vehicle Sales Regulator (OMVIC) said it was revoking the licence of DL Autobrokers.
Back in July, OMVIC suspended the Lakeshore Drive based dealer, following an investigation sparked by consumer complaints.
“The dealer did not appeal the immediate suspension order or Proposal to Revoke Registration issued by the regulator in July,” reads a statement from OMVIC.
“As a result, DL Auto Brokers and its operators, Darrel Legare and Andrea St. Amant, cannot legally sell, lease, buy or consign vehicles.”
An investigation revealed DL Autobrokers failed to remove liens from at least two vehicles traded in and from two vehicles sold; leaving consumers potentially responsible for the debts.
OMVIC is encouraging people who purchased vehicles from DL to ensure they don’t have any unexpected liens on their vehicles.
“This information can be found by consulting a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP), available from ServiceOntario or on a CarProof Vehicle History Report. Consumers with questions or concerns should contact OMVIC’s Complaints and Inquiries Team at 1-800-942-6002x3942,” said OMVIC.
The suspension means the owners of DL Autobrokers cannot reapply for registration for at least a two year period; pending the release of new evidence or a change of material circumstances.
