Motorist facing impaired driving charges after vehicle stalled on Hwy. 11: OPP
The driver of a vehicle that stalled on the side of Highway 11 last week is facing a number of charges.
On Jan. 7 at about 4 a.m., officers with the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police detachment received a call about a vehicle stuck on the side of the road on Highway 11 in Reesor Siding, between Kapuskasing and Hearst.
"Officers located the vehicle and driver, and during the interaction with the driver, officers determined they had consumed an intoxicating substance," said police in a news release.
"The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing OPP detachment for further testing."
As a result of the police investigation, a 32-year-old resident from Constance Lake has been charged with drug possession, driving while under suspension, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and impaired driving.
Additional penalties
In addition to the charges, the accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was impounded by police for 45 days.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 24 to answer the charges.

"Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is dangerous and illegal," said OPP Const. Kyler Brouwer, in a related social media post.
"Our officers are committed to keeping our roads safe for everyone."
