"Several people were taken into custody and some charges were laid," Shantz said.

"There were no serious injuries."

Police said it is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no public safety issues.

Shantz said the incident is still being sorted out by investigators and a full news release about the incident will be available Thursday morning.

Police had the sidewalk in front of three homes on King Street East cordoned off on Tuesday and numerous evidence markers were observed on the snowy ground.

A neighbour who lives near the scene who didn't want to be named said they observed the forensics van and police using a drone after the incident, but didn't hear anything prior to officers showing up.
