MNR renews call for help with investigation of abandoned cow moose killed in northern Ont.

Conservation officers with the Ministry of Nature Resources (MNR) are again asking for the public’s help with identifying the individual(s) responsible for killing a cow moose near Chapleau, Ont., last year.

"The ministry takes this situation very seriously and is looking to identify those responsible," MNR officials said in a previous news release about the incident.

On Oct. 16, conservation officers were alerted to a moose that was shot and abandoned in a cut block, off of Kebskwasheshi Road, in Eaton Township.

“The cow moose was killed and abandoned anywhere from a few days to a week before it was discovered,” said MNR officials in a social media post earlier this week.

"The Ontario government is safeguarding moose populations by ensuring hunters do not cover up illegal hunting activities," read the initial release from the ministry.

Anyone with any information that could assist conservation officers in their investigation is asked to contact the MNR TIPS line toll-free at 1-877-847-7667 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
