Conservation officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources are asking for the public's help to find the person who shot and abandoned a cow moose earlier this year near Chapleau.

The MNR was alerted Oct. 16 to the cow moose, which was left off of Kebskwasheshi Road in Eaton Township near Chapleau.

"The cow moose was killed and abandoned anywhere from a few days up to a week before it was discovered," the MNR said in a news release Friday.

"The ministry takes this situation very seriously and is looking to identify those responsible."

Anyone with information is asked to call the ministry TIPS line toll-free at 1-877-847-7667. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

"Conservation officers remind everyone that by respecting seasons, sanctuaries, bag and possession limits, we all help ensure our natural resources stay healthy," the MNR said.
