NORTH BAY -- A North Bay-based mining company has come through with a donation of critical supplies and equipment as doctors and nurses face a shortage.
Like many hospitals and long-term care homes in the north, the North Bay Regional Health Centre is in desperate need of equipment and gear to protect patients and staff during the novel coronavirus pandemic. The hospital's foundation says its frontline workers are in need of supplies of things like gloves, masks, goggles and much more.
And now, a North Bay-based mining company, Cementation Canada, has stepped up in a big way by donating over 100 supplies. Everything from respirators, filters, goggles and sanitizing wipes.
"This is something that could affect all of us really closely. Donate anything that you might have to be able to help. Now is great time to be able to donate it," said Cementation Canada General Manager Health and Safety Steve Wrixon, via Skype.
"Gathering as many community resources as we can will help us be at the highest level of preparedness and to make sure that all of our patients are safe," said Tammy Morison, president and CEO of North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
Hospital foundation staff says you can visit the organization's website to find out how you can donate any spare supplies you may have.
Sudbury's Health Sciences North Foundation has created a COVID-19 Support Fund and are now accepting donations to purchase necessary equipment and supplies to support our front line heath care workers at Health Sciences North.
