Memorial Cup parade in Garden River First Nation
On Saturday, the northern Ontario First Nation community of Ketegaunseebee, also known as Garden River, is celebrating a hometown hockey hero who won the Memorial Cup this year.
A parade for Saginaw Spirit right-winger Lincoln Moore, 18, started at the community's administration building at 11 a.m. and is being escorted by the Anishinabek and Ontario Provincial Police Services.

The parade travelled through the Puschwa subdivision, down Gemmah Street, up Wigwaus Street and down Highway 17B.
Photos were taken at the Indian Land Bridge and food and refreshments served at the rec centre around 1 p.m. following the parade.

Selena Belleau, Moore's mom, told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca it was a very proud day in Garden River.
"It was very overwhelming as a parent to see everyone out and to celebrate Lincoln on winning the Memorial Cup," Belleau said.
"We are very proud and grateful for the community support."

Moore, who is 6-foot-1, spent four years playing AAA hockey before joining the Ontario Hockey League as a member of the Spirit in 2022.
Moore was the first overall pick in the 2022 U18 OHL Draft.
This season, he scored 13 points in the regular season and made five assists in the playoffs.

During the five games of the Memorial Cup final against the London Knights, Moore scored one goal and made two assists.

"Moore has that rare combination of physicality and discipline," Elite Prospects 2024 NHL Draft Guide said.
"He hits opponents, takes the extra stride to skate through opponents' hands, wins body positioning, and creates space by driving the net and engaging opponents as he skates past them."
Garden River is also where three former NHL players are from. Ted Nolan and his two sons, Brandon and Jordan are from the Indigenous community near Sault Ste. Marie.
