The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee has extended the flood warning for the

Mattagami River until Monday, May 27, 2019. A Flood Warning message serves as notification to the general public that flooding is imminent or already occurring in specific watercourses.

Mattagami River water levels continue to be higher than normal and low lying areas remain flooded.

Residents in flood prone areas near the Mattagami River are reminded to monitor the conditions near their properties.

Sandbags are still available through the municipality.

The Flood Advisory Committee continues to meet on a regular basis to review watershed conditions and forecasts.

Residents are reminded to remove unsecured material and equipment from shoreline areas and be prepared with a household emergency plan should a flood emergency be declared. Parents are again asked to let their children know about the dangers of playing in and around lakes, rivers, streams and flooded areas.

Further updates will be issued in the coming days as conditions change. For more information, contact the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority at 705-360-2660.
