A 28-year-old man is facing charges after police received traffic complaints about a driver on Highway 17 in Sudbury blowing through red lights and passing vehicles on the shoulder.

Ontario Provincial Police said it received several complaints around 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Once the vehicle was located, the driver from Markstay-Warren – east of Sudbury – was arrested for impaired driving.

He is charged with drug impaired driving and dangerous operation.

His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver's licence suspended for 90 days.

"The OPP would like to remind the public that if you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways or trails, please 'Make the Call' and dial 911 as impaired driving never ends well," police said.

"Please plan a way to get home safely."

The suspect was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Sudbury on Jan. 8.
