A 38-year-old man from Magnetawan is facing several charges after an incident in Burk's Falls, south of North Bay, last Thursday.

Ontario Provincial Police say while officers from the Almaguin Highlands detachment were responding to an unrelated incident on Ontario Street, they were approached by a man who was intoxicated.

He allegedly began yelling and swearing at the officers, who then arrested him for being intoxicated in public.

Police allege the man caused damage when brought into the detachment and became physically and verbally aggressive.

He is facing charges of:

  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief
  • Causing a disturbance
  • Assault a peace officer with a weapon
  • Public intoxication
  • Possessing unmarked cigarettes

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled in a Sundridge court on January 24th.
