A stretch of Leigh’s Bay Road in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie went into lock down Sunday morning, as police were dealing with an armed suspect. 

Shortly before 10 am, police pulled over a 35-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie who was wanted on a surety warrant. 

While speaking to the suspect, police noticed a shotgun in his car.

The emergency services unit was called in. 

After a five hour standoff, police were able to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect is facing seven different firearm charges.

His name is not being released.
