Richard John Labine of Iroquois Falls matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the Jan. 5 Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.

A retiree, Labine said he's been playing the lottery on and off for a few years.

"I never want to play the same numbers twice, and I always play Encore," he is quoted as saying in a news release Wednesday from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.

The father of three and grandfather of two said he went to a small-town store after church one day to check his tickets.

"The last ticket I checked was the $100,000 winner -- I ran outside to tell my wife,” he said.

“I'm so happy. I will do some travelling to see visit family in Edmonton and maybe Australia to visit my daughter and grandchildren. I'd also like to give back to the community,"

The winning ticket was purchased at Fuddy Duddy's Variety on Main Street in Iroquois Falls.
