TIMMINS - Officials are gathering at Timmins City Hall for an inquest into the death of a mining contractor from Quebec in 2014.

An inquest coroner, accompanying counsel, and a jury are in the city courtroom as they examine the circumstances surrounding the contractor’s death.

Reports say Michel Fournier Bolduc, 26, was leaving the site of the Holt Mining Project, east of Matheson, near the Quebec border, when a dead tree fell on the bulldozer he was driving and killed him.

The supervising coroner for the north region says that the inquest is expected to last two days, with five witnesses planned to testify.

The jury may make recommendations for making sure similar deaths don’t happen again.
